What’s Your Gage?

Twenty years ago, a productive day usually meant I was on my feet, talking with customers, solving problems, and making things happen.

Today, my work looks completely different.

I’m building something that lives in a digital world, so the heavy lifting isn’t always physical. It’s thinking, learning, solving, rewriting, and figuring things out one piece at a time.

From the outside, it might not look like much happened.

From the inside, it can be one of the most productive days of the week.

I’ve learned that progress doesn’t always leave sawdust on the floor. Sometimes it leaves a page full of notes, a better idea, or one problem finally solved.

What does a productive day look like for you?

What’s Your Key Word!

For me, the key word is balance.

I don’t think AI is the answer to everything.

I don’t think it’s the enemy, either.

It’s a tool.

Used well, it helped me organize my business, sharpen my focus, and spend less time chasing paperwork.

What it didn’t do was replace my voice.

That’s still my job.

And that’s exactly where I want to spend my time.

I Hit The Wall…

For a while, I hit a wall.

I was spending so much time trying to market myself that I started getting frustrated with the whole process. It wasn’t the work—I love the work. It was the feeling that I was spinning my wheels.

Then something unexpected happened.

I used AI to help me organize my business, my ideas, and my marketing. It didn’t replace my voice. It didn’t replace my creativity.

It simply helped me clear the clutter.

Now my job is the same as it’s always been:

Get my demos in front of the right people and let my voice do the talking.

Measure twice cut once!

This morning was a little frustrating.

I thought that a big chunk of dialogue

I worked on had been saved… wasn’t.

For a few minutes, it felt like I’d taken

a step backward. Then I realized something.

The work wasn’t wasted. The lesson wasn’t wasted.

From now on, every important milestone

gets saved before moving on to the next.

A simple change that will save a lot of

headaches down the road.

Sometimes our biggest progress doesn’t

come from getting everything right.

It comes from making sure we don’t

repeat the same mistake twice.

How many times has this happened to you??

What’s one investment in yourself that’s paid off the most in your career?

One of the best investments I’ve ever made wasn’t in equipment.

It was in coaching. A microphone can help you sound good, but a good coach helps you become a better communicator.

That’s something no piece of equipment can do.

What’s one investment in yourself that’s paid off the most in your career?

Keep Showing Up

This morning, while walking Maverick, I realized something.

He doesn’t know if I have a headache or if I’m having

a great day. He just knows it’s time for our morning walk.

It reminded me that the things that matter most in life aren’t

built on perfect days. They’re built on the days when you show up anyway.

Whether it’s your career, your family, a creative dream, or simply keeping a promise to yourself, consistency has a way of quietly adding up over time.

I’m curious…what’s one commitment you’ve kept,

even on the days you didn’t feel like it?

What’s worth talking about?

This weekend I’ll be sitting down with another cup of coffee and asking myself one question…
What’s worth talking about?
It’s amazing how often the answer isn’t found in the headlines. It’s found in the ordinary moments we almost overlook.
I just might have to ask my faithful companion for that answer, Maverick!
He usually has a pretty good perspective.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

How Do You Get Paid?

Years ago, someone told me, “get paid for what you know, not just for what you do.”

That simple sentence has stayed with me through every chapter of my life—from business to the airlines to voice-over.

Funny how one sentence can change the way you see your future.

Where does your next IDEA come from?

I’ve realized that some of the best ideas don’t arrive when I’m sitting at my desk.

They show up while walking my dog, driving down a country road, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of coffee.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for a problem…is stop chasing it for a little while.

How About It….Paying Attention!!

This week I’m paying attention to what’s happening in the voice-over industry before deciding what to say.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that technology will keep changing.
The responsibility to tell a story honestly never will.
That’s still what clients are looking for.
