Every now and then, a thought about my years in airline operations comes out of nowhere.
Suddenly, I’m right back at the airport, thinking about the people, the departures, and everything that had to come together to get a flight out.
It’s funny how a job can stay with you long after you’ve left it.
What thought takes you straight back to an old job or career?
We talk a lot about making connections, especially online. But clicking a button doesn’t create a professional relationship.
That starts when somebody actually pays attention—reads what you wrote, responds with a thought, follows up, or takes thirty seconds to send a personal message.
A connection is a number. A relationship begins when there’s a reason to remember the person behind that number.
I’ve been seeing more of that lately, and it reminds me that real conversations still matter.
So what turns an online connection into a professional relationship for you?

I see a lot of talk about “reach” on social media.
I’m far from an expert, but is reach really the goal—or is it what happens after someone stops scrolling?
A view is nice. A real conversation is better.

A connection request may open the door, but the conversation that follows is where the relationship begins.
It’s easy to watch the number of connections grow and forget that every number represents a real person with a story, experience, and something worth learning.
When was the last time you circled back and started a real conversation with someone in your network?
Awards and recognition can feel good.
But in voice-over—or any business—the real measure of success is earning a client’s trust, delivering what they need, and having them call you again.
A trophy may sit on a shelf collect dust. A satisfied client helps build a career.
What means more to you: recognition from your industry, or repeat business from your clients?
The last day of the month isn’t only about looking back at what you accomplished.
It’s also a chance to decide what you’ll carry forward—and what you’ll leave behind.
Moving forward doesn’t require a perfect month. It only requires that you keep moving.
As for me, I’ll keep the momentum up and stay the course!
What’s one thing you want to carry into September?
Productivity doesn’t always mean sitting at a desk for eight straight hours.
Sometimes it means focused work, stepping away, clearing your head, and returning ready to go again.

Yesterday, I completed the fifth and
final manuscript for Season One of
Beyond the Stone Path: Zacky’s Woods™.
What began as a memory of the
woods I explored as a boy in
Iselin, New Jersey, has grown into
a world of friendship, curiosity, hidden places, and adventure.
There is still plenty of work ahead,
but today I’m taking a moment to
appreciate this milestone.
Sometimes momentum doesn’t need
to be forced. It just needs to be fed.
